Tips to keep your dogs teeth clean!

It's vary important to keep your dogs teeth clean. By keeping them healthy and clean your dog will be happy and live longer. Depending on the breed of the dog, some are prone to dental problems, including Chihuahuas, Yorkies, Dashchunds, Pomeranians etc. Most medium and large breeds have no dental problems and they're teeth stay perfectly clean. Genetics and diet are a big part of that.

Here are some tips to keep your dogs teeth clean:

1. Brush you dogs teeth

- Brushing your dogs teeth 1-3 times a week can help a lot.

- there are many types of toothbrushes, pick one that's best for your dog.

Toothpaste,

- DIY, mix 1 tbsp of coconut oil and 1tbsp of baking soda to make a paste. This toothpaste works vary well.

commercial,

- Tropiclean dental gel

- Bestfriend Beauty toothpaste

I use all 3 types of toothpastes, they all work vary well. I usually use the Tropiclean gel to get rid of tarter or dirt in their teeth. Then right after I use either the DYI or Bestfriend Beauty toothpaste to whiten and get rid of stains. Both of these can be used on there own but prefer to use both.

2. Raw bones

- naturally clean teeth and are vary good for them

- get rid of plaque and tarter

- provide mental exercise

- Raw bone options chicken necks, feet, wings, turkey necks, whole quail, meaty beef bones, veal tail tips, etc

- do not feed cooked bones and always supervise your dog

I give raw bones 3-4 times a week, they love them.

3. fresh breath foam, water additives

- can kill bacteria

- help keep teeth cleaner

- if your dog wont let you brush their teeth this may be easier.

I use fresh breath mint foam from Tropiclean. I dont use water additives but have heard that they do help with tarter.

4. Avoid treats with carbohydrates, fillers

- these can cause plaque and tarter

- look for treats with 1 or 2 ingredients

- dehydrated meat treats are the best option

5. Diet

your dogs diet affects your dogs teeth

- Kibble and canned food cause plaque and tarter making it harder to keep your dogs teeth clean

- A Raw or Home cooked diet are the best options to keep your dogs teeth clean

6. Vet dental cleanings

getting your dogs teeth clean is an option if your dog has vary bad teeth (gum disease)

- It's bad for their heath

My Chihuahuas have had their teeth done by the vet once due to the effects of them eating kibble. Now their on a raw diet which helps to keep they're teeth clean.

- Raw bone options chicken necks, feet, wings, turkey necks, whole quail, meaty beef bones, veal tail tips, etc.
