In the summer it gets really hot, keeping them cool is really important. If you have a dog with long fur it can be even worse for them.
My chihuahuas and sphynx cats prefer the hotter weather but there are some days when its way too hot to do any activities with them or even go outside for more then a few minutes.
Important things to consider in the Summer!
1. do not leave your dog in the car
when its hot outside your car will get really hot over 95F even if its 70F outside.
2. Keep your Home Cool
Have a fan or AC on
3. Be mindful when it comes to exercise outside
When its hotter out and the humidity is high it may be too hot to exercise your dog.
4. Check the Pavement
Touch the pavement and if its too hot for your hand, its too hot for them.
5. Make sure your dog has access to shade and water
Have a spot with shade and a bowl of cold water.
6. Get them groomed
If your dog has a long coat you should groom them to keep them cool. This may be different for dogs with double coats. Their coats will keep them cool and shouldn't be shaved.
