5 Things to know before buying a Teacup Chihuahua!

Updated: Mar 22, 2018

Teacup Chihuahuas have become very popular, they're usually no more than 3.5 pounds. Teacup Chihuahuas are very small and delicate. The term teacup is made up by breeder's so you have to pay a higher amount. The CKC and AKC dont acknowledge that term, Chihuahuas are a toy breed and usually are 2-7 pounds. If your buying a teacup chihuahua your just buying a tinier size chihuahua, teacup is just a word. Breeders breed the Chihuahua to get it at a smaller size.

Before buying a teacup chihuahua...

- Chihuahuas are born without a complete skull, a soft spot, but eventually it disappears. It's known as a mollera, there's a chance the mollera remains. Which means you need to pay extra attention to they're heads.

- Chihuahuas have low blood sugar, Hypoglycema. Never forget a meal, they need to fed 2-3 times a day or they will bring up Bio, yellow, clear vomit.

- It is very difficult to keep they're teeth clean, they need brushing everyday

- They love to be warm, they hate the cold. They need sweaters, coats.

- Lastly, it depends on the chihuahua, some are perfectly fine, others have many health problems.

Before buying a teacup (smaller version) chihuahua please make sure you are capable of taking care of one.

Aren't Chihuahuas already small enough?
